Decades ago, some people made t-shirts or a banner or something with "BIENVENIDO PAPA" on it for a visit from the Pope to their city. This has happened so many times that you now see stories deboonking photoshopped images made in parody. It did in fact happen. Linguistic rules changed now too so that if you have "Papa" capitalized as a proper noun, it's assumed to be a reference to The Pope. First I heard of this was 30 years ago.
