- Embed this notice@ned Oh, here's a thing to know about Pokemon. I don't know if this applies to the newer ones but they do two or three kinds of remake. If you look at the titles you'll notice some are similar. They're the more normal kind of remake.
eg. Pokemon Red then some years later "Fire Red." Same game but newer device, newer graphics, some new features etc.
But then at the time they will make "Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue" where it was essentially the same game with very minor differences. Particularly a couple of pokemon appear in one version and not the other.
In theory it incentivizes kids to play with each other to get them all. More cynically it meant parents with a bit more cash probably bought both games, two game boys and a link cable for one kid.
Then the third kind is they'll do a thing like release Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver and the year after Pokemon Crystal.
Where Crystal was essentially the same as Gold and Silver but with extra content.
