IDF being elite was always propaganda. If you look closely at their actual performance against Egypt etc, it's not that great. They are happy to kill and terrorize but unwilling to take personal risk in a battle.

Bribing, blackmailing and assassinating is more their style, I expect Mossad to be fairly effective.
