This is primitive expression of the ego, as they're expressing their existence [I], differentiation [don't like], and it's primitive because they latch on to something they know but feel safe rejecting. They know that they can say that about apples without consequences. Two of my kids went through a phase like this with foods they loved and a year or two later were back to loving.
