It's offensive to anyone that can recognize a bad idea. Instead of trying to shoe-horn anything into the French version of egalitarianism (the one that got them a Corsican emperor, I would like to add: France is the Reddit of nation-states), picture a system built on a complete indifference to whether idiots manage to get themselves killed because nothing of value will have been lost. You keep calling this egalitarianism and you keep thinking that it has something to do with making idiots feel happy or safe rather than making sure the cops don't get in the way of anyone that meets the low, low bar of being smarter than a cop.
