I'm going back to supervision and training again tbh. Almost every dog is a potential "fighting dog", besides the cosmetic/useless breeds. The child and pet both need adequate supervision, which would avoid it becoming an issue altogether regardless of the dog's breed. Dog ownership and child having, by people who aren't intelligent/responsible enough to have them causes a lot of issues.

Yeah, previous decades had different "feared breeds". Doesn't really change much though, children have the potential to be far more deadly than any dog breed if raised wrong. There can be little to no consistency under law if certain exaggerated fears are treated with the banhammer imo. Besides, bedsheets are far more deadly and I'd rather not be cold when I sleep. https://www.tylervigen.com/view_correlation?id=1864

Number of people who died by becoming tangled in their bedsheets correlates with Total revenue generated by skiing facilities (US)
Can you come up with a causal mechanism?
