@skjadul Women should always have the chance of purely female care, men are not at risk from women so female nursing men is a different thing, but if they prefer it and there are male staff then they should get that, dignity in care is paramount, as well as safety. We had male and female care where I last worked, so both sexes could access their own. I always called in one of the blokes for things like shaving and that, I was too scared of cutting someone, after all, what experience did I have of shaving my face.
One time when I was hospital and not allowed out of bed I so needed a pee, rang bell and it was a male nurse who answered it, told him situation and he said I’ll go and get one of the women, he never even attempted to do it, but as it didn’t actually bother me and I needed to PEE RIGHT NOW I said just help me on the damn thing, which he did, very discreetly and making sure I was safe to be left he went off to find a female nurse to deal with it all then. But that was me, it didn’t bother me, he was obviously ok, for those who do not want male care then it should not be forced on them. It’s a bit more difficult when it comes to doctors, because the one you need to see might be a man and no women there who deal with whatever disease it is etc.
