It's not 100% uncensorable but it's highly uncensorable and any censorship attempt would destroy public support for the project. It involves a degree of cost to register and renew names but the cost isn't bad. the biggest issue is resolvers for names would be centralized because it would rely on public services to access the blockchain to resolve the names. I don't think it's a giant threat and it could be avoided by a few fedi pople running full nodes but it still represents a chokepoint.
you don't have to be all-in on crypto to use it. it uses crypto for payment but it's just a service.
