I was talking about 40k but yes. I used to run Apprentice/MWS/Cockatrice to play Magic in a very similar fashion. These are a lot more ad hoc than TTS, by the way, but the nuances to an extent are baked into the game in a way that they just are not in TTS. It was usually used as a testing ground before I went out and bought the cards. Or just as a way to pass some time with friends.
Generally, these games that rely on the ‘authenticity’ of such products enforce it by excluding people who use fake cards/figurines/whatever. There classically hasn’t been a reliance on courts for this. They classically turned a blind eye to the kind of play we’re discussing here.
Now, if TTS users managed to organize competitive tournaments with big prizes, then, it’d have drawn their eye more.
