For one thing, they’re choosing to share the stage with someone (Clapton) who is trying to deliver the next presidential election, and therefore the end of democracy in the US, to the fascist party. I take legitimating such people very seriously. It’s a matter of life and death that they be ostracized from all positions of power or influence.

ETA I say this from perspective of past career as a historian of the interwar rise of fascism.
