I used to live on 4th St. I would walk 5 minutes here to get a sandwich and work, etc. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Red+Hook+Coffee+and+Tea,+765+S+4th+St,+Philadelphia,+PA+19147/@39.9385577,-75.1497355,17z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x89c6c89f38a75a9d:0xf5dc76fff80d27e5!8m2!3d39.9385577!4d-75.1497355!16s%2Fg%2F1v1kqts7
For groceries I'd walk a few more minutes to this local place. I would cart my groceries back to my apartment. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Essene+Market+%26+Caf%C3%A9,+719+S+4th+St,+Philadelphia,+PA+19147/@39.9393571,-75.1494153,16z/data=!4m9!1m2!2m1!1sGrocery!3m5!1s0x89c6c89ed75f96d1:0x43e5e28292c2e580!8m2!3d39.9399804!4d-75.1492563!16s%2Fg%2F1tj2pf3m
Then of course for fun I could walk to any shop or bar on South Street. Eg https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tattooed+Mom,+530+South+St,+Philadelphia,+PA+19147/@39.9418799,-75.1518343,16z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x89c6c89e630fc7d1:0x98bb03f77bc875c!8m2!3d39.9418799!4d-75.1518343!16s%2Fg%2F1v8321mn
It was a very different way of life and honestly great. I got to speak with my neighbors and felt like part of a community. I would meet new people all the time. The tradeoff was having a tiny apartment, but I believe the concept of a 15-minute city in general is great.
