The Christians just had a more compelling God, one that could capture the loyalty of the lower classes. Where previous gods were personifications of natural and psychological forces, as likely to kill humans or drive them mad as to help them, and themselves vulnerable to other powerful Gods, He was singularly all-powerful, beyond comprehension, and, most importantly, he gave the right incentives. He gave the lowly hope, He was friendlier towards women than the Roman deities who were kinda rapey, and He promised that everyone had value.
Christianity, at least as practiced by our ancestors, was far more influenced by the europeans and hellenic middle-easterners than the reverse. We kind of took it on hollowed it out, and made it our own. It could have been any religion, honestly. Christianity is not unique.
