@branman65 @Saber The father of Christian monasticism is St Anthony The Great who didn't want to be stuck around debauched sinners, for his own soul and salvation, and left for solitude and prayer. Benedict did the same thing. You can't claim monasticism is evil unless you claim the modern world is good, because its original purpose is a refuge from sin and depravity.
