Too many pieces of captured talent from the early 90s were dead, chronically in rehab, or had become passe. Rock radio music at the time was pretty diverse and weird...Tool would be followed by The Refreshments. Indeed, Stefani ended up playing the pop star game, but the industry also pivoted heavy away from rock and toward pop. 1/2
