@mike In the US power generation is ~25% of greenhouse gas emissions, trucking is another 10-15%.

Both sectors can be easily regulated (there's already tons of regulations).

With proper subsidies the changes would be welcomed--plus it would cause a huge boom for American alternative energy and electric vehicle industries.
