No serious theologian believes in absolute biblical inerrancy or infallibility, so let’s just dispense with that casually. The Gospels are not the inerrant Word of God. They are literally second-hand accounts from disciples. They are eye witness testimony.
That being said, the theme of universalism in Christ’s own words in the Gospels are more than “explicitly implied,” as you put it. They’re just explicit. Outright.
