I guess it's a difficult issue. On one hand, it is possible for a pedophile to escalate to real harm, but on the other hand, I feel like there's a lot of pedophiles who would never do such a thing, and then that argument applies in reverse: imagine someone is plotting to murder you because they think you're a pedophile. ☹️

Another argument is whether or not enjoying of fiction reduces the desire to cause harm or escalates it. I've heard a statistic where child abuse has gone down in Japan while the prevalence of loli/shota content has gone up. But I need to know more about this...
