Parasocial stuff is going on a podium, lemmy/kbin might be close enough on this. Algorithms/presentation being quite different (almost purely chronological views vs. sorting influenced by aggregated-votes).

twitter/youtube/… is the equivalent of a venue where the rules(algorithms) to get on the podium aren't entirely laid out and typically can be gamed via either money or pre-existing status.
