(I'd never even watched his show before that, but I didn't like the cartel behavior.) The only thing they have powering their shitty cartel is eyeballs. That's how they measure "ad inventory", that's how they gather analytics, and all of their business models are based on ads and analytics. If nobody looks at them, then they disappear. I wish people would stop caring about Twitter: if that happens, then San Francisco collapses entirely, and along with it the entire VC-funded shithole apparatus.
Everyone shitposts about nuking San Francisco (and the rest of us that have the misfortune to share a state with that cursed city), but all of the problems they have created and continue to create disappear if you stop looking at their bullshit websites. People will spend hours and hours and hours hate-reading some lunatic on Twitter and then cross-posting here and on Twitter about how much they hate the ideas the lunatic is pushing, and in doing so, they are fueling the machine that created that lunatic to begin with, they are perpetuating the thing that they hate by looking at it, because literally all of its money comes from people looking at it and pushing ~*~cOnTeNt~*~ to Twitter to make other people look at it. It amounts to posturing: they will bitch about hating it but they will not do the thing that kills it, instead doing the thing that keeps it alive. VCs fund that business model because that business model generates revenue, and the VCs pushing it are exactly the kind of people that everyone around here hates, and they are pushing things that everyone hates.
The thing that kills it is incredibly simple: ignore it. Most problems don't go away if you ignore them. Anything funded by analytics and ad revenue, however, *does* go away the second you stop looking at it. Google would not be a creepy, government-entwined surveillance machine if nobody fucking used Google. Facebook. Twitter. All of them. So then we get Twitter screenshots all over fedi, a constant reminder that even people that left Twitter are still propping up Twitter, everyone is participating in their own demise (and they're free, but it's my demise, too, so I believe I have standing to complain), feeding the goddamn machine that has turned everyone into hyper-sensitive, hyper-political neurotics, the goddamn machine that has enough money to push the public around, in this country and every country. What has more sway, Facebook or the UN? Twitter or the UN? Google or the UN? The UN is terrible, but it's toothless, and it does not control the flow of information on the earth. The San Francisco Data Cartel does control that, and they control it with money they get from advertisers, and advertisers put money where there are eyeballs.
Anyway, long way of saying that I do not like Twitter screenshots.
