I only know a bit about American history, but my understanding is that it was completely undeveloped and sparsely inhabited by indigenous tribes. There was nothing there.

Even so, the colonists didn’t just execute the natives there, they fought them for hundreds of years. They still exist today. But no, human exploration isn’t equivalent to rape.
