There's a lot of nuance to being a good person. There's the effort/moral courage you have and there's also the quality of your soul.

Some people know right from wrong and choose to do wrong or knowingly avoid doing what's right when it's easier to do so.

Other people don't have a strong moral compass in the sense that their view of morality is highly influenced by what others tell them.

And some people just do not understand right and wrong.
