Hedders@thomasfuchs I'm fairly certain the first commercially sold optical mouse was the Microsoft IntelliMouse. The Apple Pro mouse was somewhat later. I actually had a Pro mouse which came with one of my Macs. It was ... ungreat. I quickly replaced it with a Microsoft mouse. These days I tend to do much the same as you, and go for non-silly gaming mice. A Logitech G903 in my case.
