Kainoa@atomicpoet @ophiocephalic@kolektiva.social @FeralRobots@mastodon.social the problem I've ran into personally as someone who self-hosts a SMTP server is Google/Gmail blocking emails from domains they don't recognize. For the first 6 months or so (now 3+ years into it), I'd get constant rejections from Google for having an "untrusted domain".
