@checkervest Neural pruning is wild. The brain is already responsible for 30% of our caloric usage, so it prunes unused connections to free up resources, so to speak. There was a time that was a survival trait. Now, in high-calorie regions of the world, it's not necessary. I expect a future where high calorie intake combined with a mutation creates the first human with a non-pruning brain. IMO, that would be the start of a new species.
Now I'm fascinated! =D
