@taiyo When I visited Okinawa and Taiwan, I became aware of the Ryukyuan people and I visited the castle in Naha (before it burned). It's a terrible thing the way that teachers have punished students for using their own languages. I teach ESL and I often encourage students to use their first languages to clarify ideas with each other before discussing the same idea in English. I think that enriches their learning.
