Doesn't hurt that we held everyone's gold in the NY FED either. If I recall correctly, everyone moved their gold to the UK and then UK to NY as that was safest path to avoid U-Boats

Either way it made it to NY for us to protect, and I suspect we used that as leverage to get everyone to do what we wanted
