Imagine if you could the way people talked about tik tok or snapchat when they first took off though.

The whole utility/justification for the fedi is that it will allow people to have freedom of speech around people who don't share their views. But in reality it's just a place for autistic people with niche politics to make friends who already agree with them on 95% of things. (because more than 10% disagreement gets you shunned/ignored by a community and more than 25% usually ends in a defederation)
