The fact that you are independent of any admin censorship is revolutionary, the problem is no one wants to move over and the actual UI for nostr is garbage/dysfunctional while on the fedi you only have to use the pleroma front end if you are a masochist.
That’s sort of true, but censorship is an important part of it too. Nostr bitcoin ppl are total zealots so they’ll be around for a while, while fedi is super fractured and censored. Most ppl can’t see our posts, unless you’re a trannypedo.
@KitlerIs6@0@pyrate@elftummy@bot@Moon If the zaps and Bitcoin people weren't a thing, then it'd be cool. But the people make the platform, rather than the other way around.
NIPs are optional. But it is worrisome because even Alex is adopting retard ideas. I’ve said it before but alt social media is just way too autistic to really succeed.
Imagine if you could the way people talked about tik tok or snapchat when they first took off though.
The whole utility/justification for the fedi is that it will allow people to have freedom of speech around people who don't share their views. But in reality it's just a place for autistic people with niche politics to make friends who already agree with them on 95% of things. (because more than 10% disagreement gets you shunned/ignored by a community and more than 25% usually ends in a defederation)
I think you are misunderstanding my intentions though. Fedi does not need normie adoption to succeed, it just needs to be easy enough to use and navigate for anyone inclined to slip away from the clearnet - anyone terminally online enough and who actually cares.
I'm not trying to invite niggers into my pristine neighborhood.
You could make an alternative social media that is easy to use (the end user doesn't need to understand how federation works when they start using it), but it needs to also provide some feature set that normies want and don't get easily anywhere else. Thats where the creative energy of alt social media *should* be going if we wanted it to actually take off, but you don't see anyone trying to develop such features.
