I have become extremely wary of utopianism in all its forms. There are utopian versions of almost every belief system, including kind and good ones. The belief that we know with •certainty• how to solve all the world’s problems in some extremely hypothetical alternate reality inevitably becomes an apocalyptic worldview: “our reward awaits us in the next life, so nothing matters now except bringingng the new world.” And any harm becomes justifiable.
