@zkat I feel the thing is that cryptocurrencies was all financial engineering with no actual material impact beyond that - no reorganization or reframing or replacement of labour whatsoever.

LLM, however, are probably going to affect material conditions in certain ways. Not necessarily _good_ ways, to be sure, and not super major ways, but they have already displaced and affected some workers (e.g. transcribers, translators) and will probably affect more, as long as they keep the costs down. >
