Half of my Senior Tech Leads are women. Because I don't tell them to tone down their assertiveness. That would be giving women something to do.
Instead, I make sure that the communication playing field is the same for everyone regardless of gender. Everyone gets the same access to present to senior leadership. No one gets talked over. No one gets ignored.
This can't make a woman a better TL. She is who she is.??♂️
But it does reduce the "performance drag" of extra work.
