On that occasion, perhaps we gave a foreign ideologue too much attention, didn't ignore him enough.
Seem to remember HS history teaching how the countries of Europe came to be ruled by folks more tightly connected to each other than to the people of the countries they ruled (something to do with hemophilia). Seems like a very bad pattern to follow, like it didn't turn out well, but I suppose similar patterns emerge for reasons.
