I'd rather live in a European-style neighborhood where stores are close and you don't *need* a car and only use it if you don't feel like walking that small distance or if you have to bring a lot of stuff over. you really don't rely on public transport, and in a lot of European countries it's sometimes lackluster. maybe in countries like the Netherlands where they have no space for cars but everywhere else not really.
