Mayumi Naramura@JapanProf I saw somewhere that party interns do background check on opponents routinely and compile a report. Santos's irregularities were flagged in the report but nobody in a position of authority paid attention to the report. (I can't recall where I saw this. Google is flooded with more recent articles.)
