@scanlime I'm with you, I don't mind the limited vantage point (except in private scoped conversation where I received orphan replies from the OP because I don't follow the person they're replying to).

Maybe it's just a scale issue. With followers in the hundreds, the drawbacks are less pronounced. With followers in the thousands and above, they become much more prominent because the number of different view of a single conversation also explodes.

But then I expect trying to reconcile the view of the thread among all the involved servers would increase network traffic very significantly with a nasty side-effect: you know your provocative reply will be forwarded to all these people who do not follow you.

This is why I'm against any technical solution to this frustration. The cost/benefit analysis doesn't look good.
