Secondly -- lots these major instances are on AWS etc. So more decentralization is need though the path is unclear. Also I think the current fediverse ID system is not DID - so some kind of cryptographic solution can be involved. W3C DID work as well - We happen to have a home brewed one next.id testing these days.
