Own some land and want to build on it? Need a permit. What you wanted to build something different? Zoning restrictions. You want to sell something? Legal permissions. You will still have to pay taxes no matter what.
Otherwise they will go after you, and they will probably do that anyways if they feel like it.

You want to leave? You need permission for that too. And you need permission for where you're going as well.

In this modern world all the "freedoms" that people have are only if they're allowed to by the powers that be, which means you're hardly free to do much at all.
