    @Johann150@genau.qwertqwefsday.eu ActivityPub has tombstones because there needs to be a stand-in for deleted objects so their references don't break or have to be cascade-deleted; rows whose children may remain interesting after the original is deleted should be able to be emptied of actual data and marked deleted without /actually deleting/ the row and breaking foreign keys, that or do something more complex than ON DELETE CASCADE for those kinds of tables.

    It's the same thing, for the same reason.
