@digdeeper @PawelK @wrongthink @amolith To be fair (when it comes to online), if ads weren't spyware, I don't mind small static banner ads that aren't too flashy and put somewhere that doesn't get in the way of content.
The truly problematic ones are video ads that autoplay and minimize to somewhere in the background unmuted, epileptically flashing ads, ads inbetween paragraphs, in-video ads (especially the unskippable ones are evil), popup or popover ads, fake download button ads, external articles that pretend to be articles of the same blog ads, and so on.
Those are the reasons why everyone uses adblockers.
