@bobwyman @delong one part of it was that people slowly stopped using comments on blogs — you may recall that blog comments became ridden with spam, even before social media took off. Also, trackbacks were always unreliable. Then services like Technorati failed. RSS services couldn't keep up (despite Feedburner et al). Twitter, FB et al were easier for "normies" to use. And then there was the ego part of it — folks began to get more of an ego boost on social media, so they migrated there.
