My kid was hard headed from 2nd grade up didnt want to go to school. My family and the school where on my ass 24 7. "Take these meds" for him they said. He did for a bit and I noticed him getting sick and depressed to I yanked him off that crap. He sill didnt want to go. Then they started with Truancy threats of 1500 tickets. I talked , explained, yelled , went to school meeting for years still he fought and fought. Finally I had enough slapped the shit out of him. Still nothing so I escalated it a bit more light ass kicking stilll nothing would not go, called the cops to take him to school they would not do it. So I finally said fuck it drop out get your ged but you will work if you are not going to school . That was the solution. Its not easy and in hind sight I would have pulled him out much earlier. Even he says I did what I had to do at the time. He holds no grudge and says he is glad I was hard on him. Hes a tough kid and our relationship is as good as it gets.
