@dalias @mcc you'll still end up with a similar amount of work with a microkernel vs a monolithic kernel because you still have to do all the other stuff, you just do it outside the kernel.

Don't get me wrong, microkernels have some clear advantages, but a reduction in work to get something working isn't one of them, just look at how long it's taking Hurd to get anywhere
