@scathach @syzygy I think a less bombastic way of phrasing my thoughts is that Islam keeps them trapped in the same cycle of violence and oppression of and against one another that they've been in for 2000 years (or longer if you roll back to say the Sumerians). But yeah maybe swapping the religions wouldn't do too much if they didn't solve their other problems, but I really think they can't progress without becoming the Islamic equivalent of the Christians who ignore the parts of the Old testament with proscriptions on mixing fabrics, so to speak. I really don't know if that kind of reform or softening of attitude is even possible under Islam.
