California bill is being drafted to require 3D printer vendors to ship their machines with firmware that blocks files with certain geometries. A desired outcome stated by the draftee who ironically holds the title of Industry Privacy Advocate, would like the machine to report when someone is trying to print "Machine Gun Parts."

As someone who has set up custom firmware for these very same machines, I am agreeing with you; it's a ridiculous proposition.
