@Paradox in a similar vein, reparations for slavery + jim crow etc., also aren't about blame or guilt or punishment or whatnot, it's quite literally just about righting material wrongs which persist to this day. damage was done that was never undone, and the ones who indirectly benefit from that damage have a responsibility to make things right with the ones who are still directly harmed by it to this day. it's simply the right, morally responsible, thing to do
