@mattblaze My guess is that people who are interested in that kind of functionality for mastodon might begin to crystallize around some hashtags to enable it, for example, #/Breaking or #/Earthquake

That seems better than putting tweets from accounts people don’t follow into their timelines. The fact that never happens is one of the big draws here for me.
