@christmasman @p @f0x @NonPlayableClown @kakafarm physiognomy is an interesting field. from antiquity, until about a century ago, it was a respectable field of study. the rise of Gouldism in the early 20th century destroyed not only the reputation of anthropology, but specifically physiognomy was badly maligned in the press. only to return in recent years as a corollary of (of all things) computer vision and state surveillance.
