Is it, tho? Let's not forget Steam hosts not just games but also user content for games (the Steam Workshop), game forums, cloud saves, the ability to download games even years and years after a sale etc.
Quite frankly I don't think Steam could keep hosting an ever-increasing catalogue of games and all the other associated features (and also pour money into things like Wine/Proton, DXVK, Mesa, ACO etc)
