@HebrideanHecate @Lady_Penelope The main point is that staff shouldn't bring their politics to work. Wearing a badge like that as part of the uniform is unacceptable. It would be worse if the company made staff wear things like that.
I've worked in a few customer facing roles, and the company ethos is always to treat everyone politely because their money is as good as anyone's. Only rude/aggressive/threatening behaviour can be a reason for not serving a member of staff. I've served all sorts of strange people in my time and the shop floor is no place for personal politics.
