One of the contributions to young people debt, animosity with older gens, and overall struggle in early young adult life is the seemingly don't give a fuck additude or seeming "my time now" that alot of western "parents" have. Treating the kid like a thing and getting rid of them as fast of possible with the "haha fucker, I had to do shit the hard way, deal with it you little shit!" Animosity they seem to hold. Then they wonder why when they are old their kids hate them and won't bring the grandkids around or leave them to rott in a nursing home if lucky.

Off on a tangent. But this is a part of the reason why western society is sick. No value on family. Add in people having to work so much that family members are damn near strangers.

I could be here all night "preaching". It's a problem created by negligence, greed, and people just accepting bullshit from corp influence/culture and the government.
